There are fashion icons, and then they're my fashion icons and which Edie Sedgwick is mine, Edie was the original 'it' girl rising to fame as Andy Warhol's muse and reigned supreme as the toast of the New York pop art scene.
She turned the 1960's upside down with her dynamically sense of style that was completely unlike anyone else's at the time. Her 15 minutes of fame were 15 minutes well spent as far as the fashion industry was concerned she was known for wearing shoulder sweeping earrings, kohl lined eyes, fluttering fake eyelashes, black opaque tights, leotards, fur coats, lots of leopard, and short bleached/silver streaked blond hair that matched Andy's famous wig, and of course like all other fashion icons, girls began to mimick her style.
She inspired the likes of Andy Warhol and Bob Dylan and left behind a fashion legacy that still lives on today... Which brings me to announcing a new blog I will do each month called 'Mimi's Fashion Icon of the month' and I've chosen Edie as the first fashion icon.
Now I know we've all seen Factory Girl starring Sienna Miller, and as much as I love Sienna the movie was nothing more than a typical Hollywood movie, fictionized as usual so if you've found yourself wanting to learn more about the real Edie, I recommend a few good books: Edie: An American Biography I think is the best choice [I own it and I love it] Edie: Girl on Fire [which I also own] and also the newest Edie Sedgwick book, Edie Factory Girl.

she was so cool,I love her performance.
That' so ironic I just finished reading "Edie" last week. She was a fabulous but tragic icon. As for Factory Girl, I adored that movie mostly because Sienna did a phenomonal job as Edie and the resemblance was uncanny!
your blog post and font is really lovely.
